    WSACCO STAFF ENCOURAGED TO USE THEIR ROLES TO ADD VALUE TO THE INSTITUTION

    On 10th August 2023

    Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society( WSACCO) staff were encouraged to make good use of their positions and roles to value to the institution.

    The remarks were made by the Chief Executive Officer WSACCO Col Joseph Freddy Onata while closing a one day training on Contracts management at WSACCO headquarter in Kiwatule – Kampala.

    The CEO complimented Uganda Management Institute (UMI) and particularly the facilitators of the training; Dr Prossy Oluka Nagitta and Dr Chris Mayanja for the commitment to ensure that the training achieves the intended objective of improving WSACCO management of procurement processes. He noted that the training was very necessary to enhance teamwork professionalism among those assigned the responsibility of contract management.

    Col Onata stressed that WSACCO management invests in training as a means of preparing staff to become better leaders and managers.
    ” We shall assess the value of this training through your performance and output. Let the principles that you have learnt here enable you to deliver to the expectations of the organization.
    In everything that we do, we must bear in mind that we must deliver the best service and value to members. We have also to be aware that being the biggest SACCO in the country, our processes and systems are subject to a higher level of scrutiny” He emphasized.

    Speaking on behalf of the trainers, Dr Nagitta Prossy appreciated WSACCO leadership for choosing UMI to train the staff. ” We are impressed by your position in the Cooperative industry. We are sure that your performance and portfolio require equipping the staff with right skills and competencies”. Dr Nagitta said.

    Maj Jackson Mugenyi who spoke on behalf of the trainees thanked WSACCO leadership for the training opportunity offered to staff. He noted that the skills acquired shall not only be useful to staff while working in WSACCO but also outside.

    Mugenyi also thanked the trainers for being resourceful and taking the trainees through different topics that have enhanced their knowledge on
    Procurement methods, Roles and responsibilities of contracts committee, Procurement Planning and budgeting, causes of delays in procurement cycle, critical success factors among others.

    The training was attended by the Board Secretary Col Dan Tizihwayo, the acting Director Finance and Administration Maj Julius Katanaka, acting Director of Operations Maj Arthur Kwezi and other members of top Management.
