13th July 2024 The Board of Directors of Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society has completed a 10-day mobilisation drive in mission areas of Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, from 2 to 11 July 2024. 24th May 2024 Uganda Copperative Savings and Credit Union-UCSCU has been urged to work with African Confederation Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA) to develop a Men’s Mentorship Program for men in cooperatives in order to have a synergy between men and women who are mentored and empowered at the same level. 22 May 2024 Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society ( WSACCO) hosted womenn leaders drawn from 13 SACCOs across the country who are undergoing women mentorship program at the Uganda Cooperative Savings and Credit Union (UCSCU). The female leaders toured WSACCO head office in Kiwatule- Kampala as part of their benchmarking. The program that commenced on 19th May 2024 shall culminate into graduation of the ladies at UCSCU Headquarters in Maganjo, Wakiso District on 24 May 2024. Today 2nd May 2024   Wazalendo SACCO delegates and staff have graduated after four day’s training on Development Educators (DE) program focusing on the SACCO business model and Philosophy. 27 January 2024 Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society has donated items valued at 50 million shillings that included 20 hospital delivery beds, 600 mama kits and a pledge of 600 dozens of exercise books. The items were delivered during the official launch of Tarehe Sita activities in Busoga subregion that took place at Buyende District. Tarehe Sita is a day celebrated to commemorate the launch the National Resistance Movement (NRM)/ National Resistance Army (NRA) struggle that culminated into the liberation of Uganda from the forces of tyranny on 26th January 1986. This year’s celebration that marks the 43rd Tarehe Sita anniversary shall be held at Bugweri District on 6th February 2024. 17 November 2023   In an effort to extend services closer to its members, Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) has flagged off the construction of a building that will house a cash operating branch in  Fort portal City at plot 7  Balya Street.   The City Secretary for Works Mr Ndamira Joseph who represented the Central Division Mayor Mr Asaba Ruyonga at the ground breaking ceremony congratulated Wazalendo SACCO upon the milestone registered. ENGINEERS BRIGADE ARE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS AS AIR FORCE WINS NETBALL AT THE CDF’S CUP 12th September 2023 The 15th Edition of the Chief of Defence Forces Cup tournament ended at Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara City. The two-week event attracted 19 football teams and 12 netball teams drawn from the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces Formations and Units. The breath-taking final match between the Air Force and Engineers Brigade ended 1 all in the 90 minutes and was decided by a penalty shootout which Engineers wom 4 : 1. WAZALENDO SACCO SUPPORTS SPORTS Today 3rd September 23 Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) has donated sports uniforms and balls to 19 football teams and 12 netball teams that are participating in the 15th edition of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF’s) Cup hosted by 2 Infantry Division in Mbarara City. The tournament commenced on 3rd September 2023. While flagging off the tournament, the acting 2 Infantry Division Commander Brig Gen Paul Muhanguzi who represented the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Wilson Mbadi , commended the UPDF leadership for choosing 2 Infantry Division to host this year’s tournament. On 4th August 2023   Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) Risk Champions have been urged to put the knowledge that they got from the training into practice so that they become agents of change and help the society to minimize risk exposures arising from day to day activities and operations.   Risk Champions are persons selected from different departments by virtue of their expertise in a particular aspect of risk management but are not risk owners. COOPERATIVES CHALLENGED TO BE JOB CREATORS 1st July 2023 The President of the Republic of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has challenged the Cooperatives to take advantage of the prevailing peace and security to engage in productive activities that create jobs. 10th May 2023    Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) has donated two 5,000 litre water harvest tanks to Zuriitech Secondary School in Budaka District. The school is owned by a member of WSACCO, Lieutenant Zurich Mukatabala who serves in the UPDF’s Special Forces Command (SFC).   While handing over the tanks on behalf of the Chairman Board of Directors WSACCO Maj Gen Sam Kavuma, the Vice Chairman Lt Col Allan Kitanda said that the Board of Directors (BOD) considered donation of the water harvesting tanks among the items that the member had asked for due to the importance of water in managing the hygiene of the students.
