    WSACCO BRANCH MANAGERS ASKED TO SEEK FOR INFORMATION

    The Wazalendo SACCO has today held it’s first quarter 2022 branch managers meetings. The meeting was held at WSACCO Headquarters in Kiwatule Kampala.

    The Chief Executive Officer Col Joseph Freddy Onata called upon the managers to seek information especially the basic information about the Wazalendo. He added that failure to know the strategic direction, will hinder service delivery because the managers will not be able to break down to the members WSACCO’s strategic direction as clarified in the Vision, mission and objectives of the SACCO.

    The CEO also informed managers that while WSACCO leadership shall provide support to build their capacity they must also take the initiative to present their training and capacity building requirements.

    He challenged them to pay specific attention to the issues of accountability, record keeping research, effective communication,coordination and availability of service if they are to excel.

    ” Avoid selfishness and accept criticism when it comes because from criticism comes improvement and from improvement comes perfection.
    If you are to excel you must do; Self assessment, check your attitudes and reflect on your motivations. The three shall affect your understanding of the strategic direction and productivity” Col Onata pointed out.

    The Director Finance and Administration Lt Col Yusufu Buha Magero welcomed the managers for the first meeting and commended their continious support towards the SACCO operations and success.

    Buha informed the members about the progress of the budget for 2022 which only awaits the AGM approval. He noted that most of branch challenges highlited in the managers report are already captured in the budget.

    He also noted that policy manuals were reviewed and approved by the BOD and are being printed for distribution.

    He emphasized discipline, team work, cooperation and accountability at all levels.

    The Director Finance and Administration discouraged the behaviours of staff movement without official leave or communication to their immediate supervisors which he said affects the expectations and individual performance and motivation.

    He encouraged branch managers to always highlight the challenges that they face in their branches quite early so that they are considered during the budgeting process.

    The Director Operations Mr Atalyeba William appreciated the good work done by the branches during the year 2021 as reflected in the good performance of the SACCO. He asked the managers to continue working even harder in order to maintain the growth.

    The Director highlighted the critical areas for the directorate which included among others ; designing and controlling growth as the main driving factor of WSACCO through service delivery.

    He also outlined the four year management strategic objectives which are operationally supported. Among them;
    Member satisfaction,
    Membership growth,
    Savings mobilisation, and improved business operations through Information Communication Technology.

    “We can only have the above implemented if we change our game plan of sitting on our tables waiting for members to come, we need to reach them out and also intermediate both the social and business role ” said Atalyeba.

    Atalyeba outlined to the managers about the last year’s good performance through the following highlights;
    Membership was over 90,000,
    Savings stood at 243.3bn
    Share capital was 219.7bn
    Loan Portfolio stood at 484.4bn,
    Assets were 629.5bn and
    the surplus was 54.9bn.
    He also noted that WSACCO managed to register a business arm that will bring in more funds to the SACCO especially by working on retaining of retirees, recruiting more members among others .

    Maj Wilson Bakyondoza who spoke on behalf of the branch managers applauded WSACCO leadership for the good working environment, improved welfare, recruitment, promotions, trainings which have greatly motivated the staff. He pledged they will work hard to meet the members expectations.

    The meeting was attended by all the branch managers of 19 WSACCO branches across the country and the Heads of Departments.
