  • WAZALENDO SACCO (WSACCO) APPOINTS AND RESHUFFLES BRANCH MANAGERS

    Wazalendo SACCO has reshufflled some of its managers and appointed a total of 39 staff to serve in different capacities across it’s 19 branches spread all over the country. The handover and take over ceremonies of all the branches kicked off on 02 and closed today 06th August. The appointed staff Include; Branch managers, Loans officers, Savings officers,Member Relations officers,Recovery officers, Cashiers, Accountants, Audit assistants and liason officers.

    While presiding over the handover and takeover on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Col Joseph Freddy Onata in the branches of Entebbe, Bombo and Mbarara, the Director Operations WSACCO Mr Atalyeba William appreciated the branch managers for their zeal and for being good listeners which has greatly enabled them to contribute to the success that WSACCO has registered over the last 17 years.

    The functions were held at Land Forces Headquarters in Bombo barracks, Imperial Mall Entebbe and concluded by Mbarara branch at Makenke barracks. During the handover and take over of the Entebbe branch, a moment of silence was observed in memory the late Maj Joseph Mukiraine who passed on the the 26th May 2022. The late Major Joseph Mukiraine had served the Entebbe branch from its inception with distinction.

    Mr Atalyeba informed those transferred that the transfers were part of WSACCO’S normal tour of duty aimed at bridging gaps and improving performance. He said that, he had no doubt that the branch managers will perform in their new branches and deliver even better results .

    Mr Atalyeba further applauded the unit Administration and leadership of all the units and formations where the branches are located for the great support they have always rendered to the staff to enable them effectively perform the duties.
    “Our great performance and success as WSACCO over the last 17 years has been as a result of our collective efforts. The units have supported WSACCO especially in mobilisation and member education which has aided WSACCO’s growth in terms of membership, capital, savings and proper utilization of loans as well as combating exploitation of members by money lenders (Baroda) among others. “I challenge the new managers to continue cooperating with the unit leaders, the staff and our esteemed members ,if they are to maintain the unity and the morale of the members that we serve” stressed DOPs.

    He highlighted some of the accomplished tasks and ongoing initiatives at WSACCO which include among others; Mobile banking platform (Waza mobile) , Establishment of Wazalendo Investment (SMC) Ltd, Adjustment of maximum loan size from 100M to 200M and the planned opening of new cash branches out side the barracks as some of the ways of enhancing convinience and bringing service closer to the members. This year, we shall open cash branches in Mbarara City, Gulu City and Moroto”. Mr Atalyeba noted.

    In his remarks at the Entebbe handover, the Uganda People’s Defence Airforce Deputy Director of Personnel and Administration Brig Gen Julius Bagonza applauded the late Maj Joseph Mukiraine for having served well the members in Entebbe. Bagonza said that the late Mukiraine had a skill of making others understand regardless of the rank. ” He brought this branch from scratch and left it as a big brand, members in Entebbe SFC, Airforce and Marrine have totally been transformed socially and economically through his efforts.

    “From the guidance that he continuously rendered to us, members have been able to construct good houses both residential commercial, established farms, businesses and many other investments because of the better service that the late Mukiraine rendered to WSACCO. It is unfortunate he didn’t live long to witness this project growing into the best and maybe establishing a bank in future. I encourage the in coming branch manager Maj Wilson Bakyondoza to emulate the late Mukiraine’s good methods of work and even do better” Brig Bagonza emphasized.

    Mr Twinomugisha Freddie who has been the acting manager for the last two months thanked WSACCO leadership for entrusting him with such a big responsibility while at Entebbe and for promoting him to a full manager to Handle Nakasongora branch. Maj Wilson Bakyondoza appreciated the WSACCO leadership for entrusting him to manage the big branches that handle cash operations such as Bombo where he operated for seven months while Maj Mugerwa was away for a course and now Entebbe.

    He on behalf of other managers thanked the unit leadership and the staff who have enabled them work in a most peaceful and coordinated environment . Bakyondoza in a special way appreciated the members at all levels whom he said are the solid foundation on which WSACCO stands. Bakyondoza pledged total commitment to serving the members and encouraged other managers to give their best as their efforts shall always be recognized.

    Among the branch managers transferred were;
    1) Maj Wilson Bakyondoza from Bombo Branch to Entebbe Branch
    2) Maj Aloysius Mugerwa from course back to Bombo branch.
    3) Maj Marius Gonza Ateru from course to Moroto branch.
    4) Maj John Tebagariza from Mbale branch to Somalia Liaison Office.
    5) Maj AK Nabimanya from Nakasongola to Gulu Branch.
    6) Maj Brian M Okuta from Headquater to Mbarara Branch.
    7) Mr Twineomugisha Freddie from Entebbe to Nakasongola branch.

    In attendance during the handover and takeover also were the Principal Staff Officers (PSOs),BoD members, delegates representing members in those areas, intelligence officers and general Administration staff.

    The handover and take over in Mbale, Moroto, Achol Pii, Gulu and Nakasongola branches were handled by the Assistant Head of Corporate Communication Lt Col Akasius Mpabaisi.
