WAZALENDO SACCO GIVES BACK TO ITS MEMBERS OF SPECIAL NEEDS

    Today 9th March 2022

Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) has today donated 30 wheel chairs to its members from the Chieftaincy of Mubende Rehabilitation Centre who have special health needs under it’s Corporate Social Responsibility
CSR) function. The donation is in line with the SACCO’s objective of improving the welfare of the members and in fulfilment of one of the key principles of Cooperatives ” Concern for the Community”.

The Director Personnel and Administration Col Stephen Kalasanyi who received the donation on behalf of Chief Mubende Rehabilitation Centre Brig Moses Kwikiriza applauded Wazalendo SACCO for the good Cooperation and the continued support it has always rendered to its members with special needs at CMRC.

Col Kalasanyi received the 30 wheel chairs at Mubende Rehabilitation Center headquarters in Mubende.
He called upon the members who will receive the chairs to utilize them well. Col Kalasanyi noted that its still a challenge to the Administration to provide wheel chairs to all those who need them because the casualties who are not able to walk are still many.

” By giving us such expensive items to the Administration of CMRC, you have given us morale and demonstrated that surely Wazalendo thinks about it’s members.
The remaining challenge is now for us to partner with WSACCO to deal with financial indiscipline such as multiple loans and exploitation of our people by other financial institutions and money lenders whose lending rates are high” noted the DPA CMRC.

The Chief Executive Officer Wazalendo SACCO Col Joseph Freddy Onata while handing over the items on behalf of the Chairman Board of Directors WSACCO Maj Gen Sam Kavuma said that the SACCO is delighted to stand together with the members of CMRC in addressing welfare issues.

Col Onata emphasized proper use and maintenance of the chairs in order to enable the chairs serve members for a long period and improve mobility.
He also urged the members to fully utilize the cash branch given to them through making savings and borrowing so that they can improve their welfare.
” WSACCO’s main objective is to enable you the members to continuously save and accumulate your savings in order to develop and avoid being exploited by loan sharks. We can utilize our internally generated savings and borrow internally to pursue our development goals”, said the CEO WSACCO.

Col Onata further encouraged members to save more because such savings will help them to plan for life after retirement. He stressed that before the establishment of WSACCO in 2005, soldiers used to suffer after retirement which he said is not the case currently because of the presence of better services and support by WSACCO especially the availability of Retirement Savings that members can access upon retirement.

The event was witnessed by the Head Human Resource and Administration Lt Col Wesley Aine, Asst Head Corporate Communications Lt Col Akasius Mpabaisi and other members of MRC and WSACCO staff.
